ABOUT THE ATTORNEYS

 

Mattheuw W. Oberholtzer, Esq.

A native of Kent, Ohio, Mattheuw received his 

Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of 

Akron in 1983 where he majored in Political 

Science.  He earned his Juris Doctorate degree,

or law degree, from the University of Akron School 

of Law in 1987.  Mattheuw has worked as an intern 

in the Stark County Prosecutor's Office and as 

a bailiff for Stark County Family Court Judge Julie 

Edwards and now-retired Judge Robert Mylett, 

before starting his private practice in 1989.  Mattheuw 

is a member of the Ohio State Bar Association, the 

Stark County Bar Association, and is active on the 

Stark County Bar Association's Family Law Committee.  

He has extensive courtroom experience, including 

experience in the Fifth District Court of Appeals and 

The Ohio Supreme Court.  Mattheuw has served as 

Guardian ad Litem for young children on hundreds of cases 

over the past fourteen years.  As Guardian ad Litem, 

Mattheuw serves to protect and promote the best 

interests of each child involved in the case.  

Mattheuw enjoys a reputation for honesty and morality 

that is too often lacking in today's permissive society.  

He enjoys many outdoor activities on his Carroll County farm.    

 


Kim R. Oberholtzer, Esq.

Of Counsel Status

A native of Canton, Ohio, Kim Oberholtzer received 

her Bachelor of General Studies Degree from Kent 

State University in 1983 and her Juris Doctorate 

Degree from the University of Akron, School of Law 

in 1987.  For five years, Kim exclusively practiced 

personal injury law at The Okey Law Firm in Canton 

with her father and two brothers, where she obtained 

significant courtroom experience.  She joined her 

husband in private practice in 1990.   Kim has taught 

paralegal classes at ETI Technical College in 

North Canton, Ohio, and Business Law classes 

at Stark State College of Technology. 

Due to serious illness,  Kim has been unable to 

actively practice law since September 2001.  

However, Kim works "behind the scenes," 

managing the firm's website, and assisting 

with administrative duties, as health permits.
